RCS MediaGroup Streamlining web traffic to portals, thanks to Google Cloud

RCS MediaGroup, one of Europe’s largest media groups, needed a way to handle unpredictable traffic spikes on its news portals without overprovisioning costly on-premises infrastructure. As Italy’s leading online publisher, it relied on Google Cloud Platform services to improve scalability, performance, and reliability for high-traffic sites like Corriere della Sera, Gazzetta dello Sport, Marca, and El Mundo.

Using Google Cloud Platform, RCS MediaGroup migrated to a cloud-based, automation-first infrastructure with Google Kubernetes Engine and Infrastructure as Code to scale in seconds during peaks of up to +300% users. The result was at least 20% savings on infrastructure costs, almost 99% stability, and the ability to meet demand quickly and automatically with far fewer resource constraints.
