A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Ravelin is a London-based fraud-prevention company that uses real-time behavioural analysis, graph networks and machine learning to flag fraudulent transactions during the checkout flow. With online fraud surging and decisions required within a 300 ms window, Ravelin needed a cloud platform that delivered extreme speed, global scale, strong security, and openness to leverage open-source tools.
Ravelin migrated its infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform—using BigQuery, Bigtable, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage and Cloud KMS—to gain autoscaling, low-latency global deployment and transparent, practical encryption. The move enabled complex, sub-300 ms calculations, better secret management and compliance with standards, and helped Ravelin stop over £100 million in fraud and analyze more than 12 PB of data while positioning the company to embrace future open-source advances.
