A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
QuantConnect is an open-source platform that lets quantitative analysts design, backtest, and deploy algorithmic trading strategies. After stability problems with their previous provider threatened long-running, capital-at-risk trading jobs and a growing library of historical data, the company needed a more reliable, scalable cloud infrastructure to support thousands of daily users and massive datasets.
QuantConnect migrated to Google Cloud Platform, using Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage Nearline, Container Registry, preemptible VMs and high-performance Intel Xeon CPUs, plus G Suite for collaboration. The move enabled a smooth 400 TB data migration, up to 20% faster compute, sixfold business growth without increasing staff or IT costs, sustained high uptime for rapid backtesting, support for 50K+ users, and the ability to add new services like cryptocurrency trading and petabyte-scale storage.
