A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
PwC Australia’s Innovation and Ventures team set out to convert the firm’s massive accounting and tax data assets into scalable, productized offerings rather than traditional, labor‑intensive services. The challenge was moving from static, post‑hoc analysis and one‑off advice to a secure, compliant, API‑driven ecosystem that could scale globally despite a relatively small team and complex regulatory requirements.
PwC chose Google’s Apigee on Google Cloud to expose transformed general‑ledger and tax data via microservices and the PwC Next platform, enabling member firms and partners to build apps and digital products (for example, the Cash Flow Coach and an anti‑counterfeiting solution). The move delivered faster product development (about 30% quicker), lower data‑service development costs, improved third‑party developer experience, a 25% reduction in time to add new data sources, easier monetization, and stronger security and compliance posture.
