Inshorts, the India-based media company behind the 60-word news app and the hyperlocal video platform Public, needed a faster, more reliable way to deliver live content as usage surged to over 10 million users and then grew 10-fold during the pandemic. The company was struggling with streaming delays on its legacy CDN and rising DevOps complexity and costs, and turned to Google Cloud Platform for a better content delivery setup.

With help from Searce, Inshorts migrated to Media CDN on Google Cloud Platform and moved to a fully Google Cloud stack, adding BigQuery and Cloud Armor for future analytics and security. The switch was completed in under two days and delivered a 10% improvement in streaming latency, a 15% reduction in DevOps costs, and about three hours saved per engineer each day, while also improving real-time monitoring and supporting global expansion plans.
