A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
PrestaShop, an open‑source e‑commerce platform used by about 270,000 merchants worldwide, needed to move from downloadable software to a hosted, multitenant SaaS offering (PrestaShop Ready) to stay competitive and open new markets. The company had to build an orchestration and data infrastructure capable of hosting tens of thousands of shops, minimize time‑to‑market, and avoid growing a large ops team.
PrestaShop built the service on Google Cloud Platform—using Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, BigQuery and other managed services—launching the new SaaS offer in eight months. Managed services kept the ops team small, enabled continuous deployment and fast bug fixes (often within a day), and BigQuery/Data Studio provided actionable analytics, resulting in more reliable, scalable service and an expanded potential client base.
