PNB Investing in Malaysia’s future with APIs

Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), one of Malaysia’s largest investment institutions, needed a faster way to serve millions of unit holders and reduce long queues for account updates and other services. To build digital investment channels and manage its growing API sprawl, PNB turned to Google Cloud Platform, specifically the Apigee API Management Platform.

With Google Cloud Platform’s Apigee, PNB launched self-service kiosks and a mobile-friendly web portal that let users check balances, reinvest, update personal details, and access statements. The result has been strong adoption, about RM2 billion in annual investments through the digital platform, or roughly 5% of total yearly investments, while new APIs can be consumed in under three months at minimal cost.
