Preview of the PKO Bank Polski Case Study

PKO Bank Polski Leading Poland into the cloud with the banking services of the future

PKO Bank Polski, one of the largest banking groups in Central and Eastern Europe, is transforming into the “bank of the future” and needed a more agile way to deliver modern digital services. Its challenge was scaling the IKO mobile banking app, speeding up releases, and supporting new omnichannel services while moving away from rigid on-premises infrastructure. To address this, PKO Bank Polski worked with Google Cloud Platform and partner OChK, using services such as Anthos, Google Kubernetes Engine, Google Meet, Google Workspace, App Engine, and AI Platform.

Google Cloud Platform helped PKO Bank Polski migrate to a hybrid, multicloud environment, containerize its app infrastructure, and launch remote advisory services for customers. The results included faster time to market for new services, the ability to handle traffic spikes up to 3x normal login peaks for 5 million app users, and improved cost efficiency through more flexible infrastructure. The bank also expects to close one of its two data centers as the migration completes, further optimizing operations.
