A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
PicMonkey is an online photo-editing and design company that helps everyday users create photos, logos, and social media graphics. As it prepared a major release, the company needed a cloud provider that would let a small engineering team move to continuous delivery, add compelling real-time features (like auto-save), and scale storage and performance for millions of images without slowing time to market.
PicMonkey migrated most infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform—using App Engine, Cloud Datastore, Kubernetes Engine with GPUs, Cloud Spanner, BigQuery, and Data Studio—to enable agile development and managed services. The move sped feature delivery by 3x, supports multiple daily releases (up to 10 a day), made real-time auto-saving and intelligent resizing possible, and improved customer analytics and multivariate testing, driving subscription and revenue growth.
