Pernambucanas Enhances AI-powered fraud detection using its own solution Documentoscopia

Pernambucanas, the Brazilian retailer, needed a highly stable and efficient way to support large volumes of online and in-store customers while speeding up customer onboarding and document verification. Working with Google Cloud Platform and its OCR technology, the company built an in-house solution called Documentoscopia to automate its Documentoscopia process and support fraud detection.

Google Cloud Platform, using Vision AI and OCR, helped Pernambucanas create a 24/7 cloud-based system that extracts data from ID cards and driver’s licenses. The results were significant: document analysis time fell from days to an average of 8 seconds, customer acceptance time dropped from hours to up to 10 seconds, manual fraud-identification effort was reduced by 80%, and the solution now processes more than 10,000 documents per day and over 14 million items overall.
