A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
PaperCut Software, founded in 1998, builds print‑management software used by more than 50,000 organizations worldwide. To extend its on‑premises product with cloud-based analytics for small businesses and home offices (PaperCut Views) and stay competitive, the company needed a scalable, secure cloud platform that would let them move fast without hiring a large DevOps team.
PaperCut chose Google Cloud Platform (App Engine, GKE, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Datastore, Stackdriver) to run PaperCut Views, completing the product in nine months and partnering with HP to ship it with thousands of printers. The move cut operating costs for Views by about 30%, reduced build deployment time from ~30 minutes to a few minutes, supported traffic spikes up to 10× while tracking ~45,000 devices in real time, and avoided the expense of recruiting multiple full‑time DevOps specialists.
