Orient Cement Building the foundations of digital transformation on RISE with SAP on Google Cloud

Orient Cement, one of India’s fastest-growing cement manufacturers and part of the CK Birla Group, needed to modernize its mission-critical SAP ECC systems and move a large volume of ERP data from on-premises infrastructure to the cloud during a narrow monsoon-season window. The company also wanted to lay the groundwork for AI-driven decision-making across procurement, logistics, and other operations, using Google Cloud Platform and RISE with SAP.

Google Cloud Platform helped Orient Cement complete a full RISE with SAP migration in less than 3.5 months, with zero glitches and no disruption as business activity resumed. The move put up to 70% of company data in the cloud, improved SAP performance, and freed the IT team from managing on-prem infrastructure so they could focus on higher-value work. The migration also created a foundation for future analytics and ML initiatives with BigQuery and Vertex AI, supporting greater efficiency, insight, and long-term digital transformation.
