MyHEAT Helping cities reach energy efficiency goals with the Solar API

MyHEAT, a Canada-based technology company that helps cities and utilities promote renewable energy and energy efficiency, needed a better way to create solar potential maps. Its earlier LIDAR-based approach was time-consuming, less accurate, and produced visuals that were not as clear or engaging for homeowners and building occupants.

Using Google Cloud Platform’s Solar API and broader Google Maps Platform capabilities, MyHEAT upgraded its solar map workflow with more accurate 3D imagery, address validation, and configurable local data. Google Cloud Platform helped cut map creation time from 3–6 months to 4–6 weeks, while improving accuracy, clarity, and scalability for future expansion beyond cities with private LIDAR data.
