A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
MWM, a Paris-based mobile music company best known for edjing Mix and more than 100 million downloads worldwide, needed to scale and coordinate real-time development and deployment across a growing portfolio of music apps while gaining deeper insight into millions of users. The challenge was handling heavy concurrent downloads and user-data features (playlists, mixes, recommendations) without burdening developers with infrastructure, and to improve retention and monetization as the business expanded globally.
Using Google Cloud Platform — including App Engine, Compute and Kubernetes Engines, Container Registry, BigQuery, Cloud SQL/Spanner, Stackdriver and Cloud Storage — MWM moved to a containerized, managed infrastructure that isolates tasks, optimizes resources, and simplifies deployment. The result: hundreds of simultaneous downloads per second (300–500 req/sec on average, peaking at ~800), better user-behavior analytics and monetization via BigQuery, improved code quality by freeing developers from ops, and tighter cost and performance control through Stackdriver and optimized data handling.
