MPB, a UK-based marketplace for buying, selling, and trading used photo and video kit, was growing quickly but its bare-metal, monolithic infrastructure could no longer keep up. The company needed a more scalable, developer-friendly platform to support expansion, improve deployment speed, and continue advancing its circular, sustainable business model with Google Cloud Platform and Google Kubernetes Engine.

Google Cloud Platform helped MPB migrate to Google Cloud and replatform its application around Google Kubernetes Engine, with support from Searce, while also using Google Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, and BigQuery. The result was a system that scales to serve 1.3 million monthly users, recirculates 485,000 products annually, and boosted deployment velocity from once per quarter to more than 100 deployments per quarter, while also improving reliability, performance, and sustainability.
