Case Study: Morellato Group achieves 200ms page loads and omnichannel ecommerce agility with Google Cloud Platform

Morellato Group Matching ecommerce platforms to diverse brands

Morellato Group, a family‑owned Italian designer and producer and Italy’s largest jewellery and watch retailer with more than 3,000 stores across 45 countries, needed faster, more flexible ecommerce to serve multiple distinct brands. Its legacy on‑premises ecommerce environment caused slow page loads (up to two seconds), fragmented customer data, and limited omnichannel features like click‑and‑collect, making it hard to improve online sales and customer journeys.

ICOA and Kronoshop rebuilt Morellato’s ecommerce platforms on Google Cloud Platform, using Google Compute Engine with caching, Puppeteer for rendering, and Google Cloud VPN to securely connect legacy systems, plus GCP’s pay‑as‑you‑go pricing to allocate resources by brand. The result: page loads dropped from two seconds to about 200 milliseconds, five brands are already live, secure fast backend connections are in place, and the group can deliver personalized services and scale investments per brand while planning a move to microservices on GKE.
