Case Study: Monrif achieves faster digital publishing and a seamless reader experience with Google Cloud Platform

Monrif, the Italian publishing group behind newspapers like *Il Resto del Carlino*, needed to modernize its digital news infrastructure to better support online reading, faster updates, and a smoother experience for readers. Using Google Cloud Platform, including services like Google Kubernetes Engine and Cloud Build, Monrif aimed to replace its older hybrid setup and build a new CMS and front end with more scalable, testable, and deployable architecture.

Google Cloud Platform implemented a modern cloud-based infrastructure with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code tooling, helping Monrif cut CMS update time from one year to four months for *Il Resto del Carlino* and reducing site release cycles from weekly to much faster deployments. The new setup also improved traffic handling, eliminated glitches during peaks, enabled full pages to load within two seconds, removed the need for AMP, and is expected to cut infrastructure costs by half compared with the previous architecture.
