A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Meetup is a social networking platform that connects more than 30 million people in 182 countries around shared interests. Facing a monolithic on‑prem architecture that slowed innovation and limited data capabilities, Meetup moved to a multi‑cloud, microservices approach to improve resiliency, speed up releases, and enable better analytics and recommendations.
By adopting Google Cloud Platform services — including Google Kubernetes Engine, Datastore, Dataproc, Dataflow, BigQuery and Cloud Functions, along with G Suite for collaboration — Meetup unlocked developer autonomy, faster experimentation and minute‑scale service releases. The migration improved reliability and throughput of its data pipeline, opened the door to agile microservices and machine‑learning use cases, and put innovations into members’ and organizers’ hands much faster.
