Mathpresso Solving math problems at scale with Cloud SQL databases

Mathpresso, the South Korea-based education company behind the AI learning app QANDA, needed a way to support rapid global growth while improving database stability, security, and scalability. As usage climbed to 10 million students per month, its monolithic setup made it harder to manage distributed data and keep services running smoothly.

Google Cloud Platform helped Mathpresso migrate its infrastructure to Google Cloud and rebuild its database environment using Cloud SQL for MySQL, along with services like Google Kubernetes Engine, Compute Engine, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage. The result was faster backup and recovery, smoother disaster recovery, better monitoring with Query Insights, improved security through API-based access, and more flexible performance tuning—helping Mathpresso stabilize operations and support a microservices architecture at scale.
