A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
MANA Partners is a New York–based trading, technology, and asset management firm that needed a technology approach to scale high‑performance quantitative research while avoiding the operational burden of on‑premises infrastructure. With roughly $1 billion under management and some systems required to be colocated with exchanges, the firm faced the challenge of maintaining security and peak performance for large financial analytics without slowing time to market.
MANA launched on Google Cloud Platform and adopted G Suite, using Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM and orchestration with Slurm/Lustre to spin up hundreds of VMs on demand. The move eliminated idle hardware and extra sysadmin overhead, cut hosting costs by about 50% versus another cloud provider, and accelerated quantitative research fourfold (reducing typical runs from ~8 hours to ~2), improving speed to market, scalability, and security.
