A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
The Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO) manages retirement schemes for about 130,000 employees and 1,650 employers but was running an in‑house data centre—four hosts, 18 servers, a SAN and firewalls—which it lacked the expertise and resources to maintain while meeting auditors’ security requirements. That infrastructure complexity and cost threatened service continuity and diverted IT staff from core functions.
With help from Cloud Comrade, MPAO migrated its systems to Google Cloud Platform, replaced internal file servers with G Suite/Drive, implemented multi‑region backups and dual ISPs, and integrated its pension application. The move (completed in under two months) cut hardware and licensing costs so the agency’s former one‑year infrastructure budget now covers five years, freed IT to focus on business priorities, and established a platform for real‑time big‑data analysis to improve pension insights.
