Mainblades Accelerating aircraft inspections with an AI-powered drone fleet

Mainblades, a Netherlands-based aircraft drone inspection company, needed a way to overcome limited GPU availability so it could build and refine the AI and ML models behind its smart drone fleet. Working with Google Cloud Platform, including services like Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Mainblades sought to speed up experimentation, image processing, and product development for airline maintenance inspections.

Google Cloud Platform helped Mainblades rapidly provision GPUs, scale workloads, and store and process inspection imagery more efficiently. As a result, GPU provisioning time dropped from 10 minutes to two minutes, each inspection could capture and manage over 200 images, and widebody aircraft inspection time was reduced by up to nine hours, helping Mainblades productize its drones faster and support global customers more effectively.
