MachineMax Drilling into data tracked from mining and construction equipment with Google Cloud and Google Maps

MachineMax, a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell, needed a scalable way to monitor off-road equipment used in remote mining and construction sites around the world. The company turned to Google Cloud Platform, along with Google Maps Platform, to connect sensors, track asset location and condition, and provide a single view of operations across sites.

Google Cloud Platform helped MachineMax build its platform using services such as Dataflow, Cloud Bigtable, Cloud SQL, IoT Core, Google Kubernetes Engine, and Cloud Run, while Localyse improved GPS accuracy with filtering and machine learning. The result was better visibility into equipment use, reduced downtime and idling, improved maintenance planning, and lower fuel consumption and carbon emissions, helping customers boost productivity, efficiency, and sustainability.
