KoinWorks Overcoming cultural boundaries to improve financial access and education for MSMEs

KoinWorks, Indonesia’s credit-led MSME neobank, needed a secure, locally compliant cloud platform that could scale quickly and speed up loan underwriting for its 2 million+ users. The company had to process rich business data and score SME creditworthiness within minutes while supporting rapid growth in its financial superapp. Google Cloud Platform, including Google Cloud and Kubernetes-based services, was selected to help meet these requirements.

Google Cloud Platform implemented Google Kubernetes Engine and other Google Cloud services to support microservices, autoscaling, fast data access, and per-project billing control. The result was a major scaling win: KoinWorks grew from 20 to 900 staff in six years, launched KoinWorks NEO with traffic rising from 3–4 terabytes to 7–8 terabytes per month, and enabled internal credit scoring in minutes while keeping costs and infrastructure more manageable.
