Karur Vysya Bank Bridging the financial Inclusion gap with efficient loan processing

Karur Vysya Bank, a century-old Indian bank, needed to speed up loan approvals and digitize a complex lending process that was taking up to 10 days and relied on manual decisions and multiple fintech integrations. Working with Google Cloud Platform, the bank used Apigee API Management to connect its loan origination system with external partners and support its growing digital banking operations.

Google Cloud Platform and its partner Blue Altair implemented Apigee to automate loan processing end to end, enabling 24/7 data exchange with more than 40 fintech providers. The result was a drop in loan approval turnaround from 10 days to 5 minutes, a fourfold increase in loan business to INR 40,000 crore, and a rise in ROA from 0.25% to 1.53%, while nearly 100% of loan processes were digitalized.
