Just Eat: Personalizing a food delivery service through real-time teamwork and real-time data

Just Eat, the food delivery service, struggled with fragmented data systems and a legacy data vendor that could not ingest about 90% of the data generated by its platform. This left analysts and data scientists spending too much time cleaning data instead of improving the customer experience, so Just Eat turned to Google Cloud Platform to better manage and use its growing data.

Google Cloud Platform helped Just Eat centralize its data and use machine learning, BigQuery, and Cloud Pub/Sub to deliver real-time, personalized recommendations and offers. The results included a proprietary Customer Ontology framework with 5.5 billion features and an “Adventurous Index” that improved marketing and user experiences, helping customers discover new dishes while driving more orders for a broader range of restaurants.
