The Institute for Systems Biology’s Cancer Gateway in the Cloud (ISB-CGC) needed a secure, scalable way to break down data silos and make massive cancer genomics and proteomics datasets accessible to researchers. Using Google Cloud Platform, the team could store and share public cancer data while supporting complex analysis across diverse tools and environments.

Google Cloud Platform helped ISB-CGC host terabytes of cancer data in BigQuery, add analytical tools like SQL-based user-defined functions plus Python and R notebooks, and run large-scale computations in minutes or hours instead of days. The result was faster, more affordable research, broader cloud adoption, and a growing number of publications based on the platform’s data and capabilities.
