ipoca Using Vertex AI to build a highly accurate AI model for predicting visitor traffic in just one year

ipoca, a Japan-based technology company, needed to launch its new retail service Asushiru quickly and build an environment for forecasting visitor traffic and sales without having in-house AI or data engineering expertise. To do this, ipoca chose Google Cloud Platform, using services such as Vertex AI and BigQuery to create its first AI-powered development and operations setup.

With Google Cloud Platform, ipoca analyzed hundreds of millions of purchase records, built and tested ML models, and established an MLOps-ready workflow. The result was a highly accurate visitor-forecasting model completed in November 2021 that performed better than manual methods at partner stores, helping store managers improve ordering decisions and enabling sales forecasts for new store openings.
