Health Data Compass, the enterprise data warehouse maintained by the Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine, needed a secure, scalable way to integrate patient records, genomic data, and other health information from multiple sources. Its older on-premises infrastructure was costly to maintain, hard to scale, and too slow for large-scale analytics, especially for research and record-linkage workloads.

Looker-supported analytics were not mentioned in the case study; instead, Health Data Compass migrated to Google Cloud Platform and Tableau to power analysis. The new setup improved query performance dramatically, cutting one record-linkage job from 8 hours to 15 minutes, reduced operating costs, and enabled scalable, HIPAA-compliant data exploration for researchers and clinicians.
