Infectious Media Shaves Time Off Data Analysis and Server Maintenance with Google Cloud Platform

Infectious Media, a London-based programmatic advertising firm founded in 2008 that runs real-time campaigns for clients like Netflix, Sky and John Lewis, processes more than 40 billion ad decisions and 100 GB of data each month across 60 sources. The company struggled with capacity, latency and rising costs on previous platforms—experiencing stalls or crashes under peak load and expensive unmanaged servers—so it needed a cloud solution that could scale reliably and cost-effectively.

The team migrated to Google Cloud Platform in one week with no downtime and now uses Compute Engine, BigQuery and Cloud SQL to power ad-serving, analytics and business rules. The change boosted throughput from 35,000 to 120,000 data requests per second, cut customer-data analysis from 20 minutes to 20 seconds, and reduced scaling time from hours to about two minutes, delivering faster insights, simpler operations and cost-effective capacity.
