A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Image32 is a Menlo Park SaaS company that simplifies how medical professionals and patients upload, view and share large digital medical images (MRIs, X‑rays, angiograms). The business faced fragmented, incompatible imaging systems, very large file sizes and strict regulatory requirements, so it needed secure, scalable infrastructure that could handle heavy processing and storage without the cost and complexity of an on‑premises data center.
Image32 runs image processing on Google Compute Engine, stores more than four million high‑resolution images in Google Cloud Storage and uses Google App Engine to serve the application, leveraging Cloud Platform’s HIPAA‑compliant environment. The move eliminated infrastructure overhead, freed an estimated 10–15% of engineering effort, delivered millisecond response times and eight months of 100% uptime, produced image processing times of 10 seconds to 5 minutes, and allowed rapid, on‑demand scaling for large projects.
