ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, a major Indian insurer, needed to speed up underwriting and document approval as customers increasingly applied via mobile and expected faster service. To address the manual delays in back-office document checks, the company turned to Google Cloud Platform and its Vision API, along with Recognic.

Google Cloud Platform, working with partner Searce, implemented automated document processing built on Vision API and Apigee to read, validate, and route documents more quickly. The solution cut document processing time from 10 minutes to 10 seconds, enabled processing of 100,000 documents in 20 minutes, and increased applications processed by 30% in the same timeframe, while also helping remove customer data after processing for added privacy.
