A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
iCarAsia is a Kuala Lumpur–based online automotive marketplace operating brands across Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand that connects buyers and sellers of new and used cars. After rapid regional expansion through mergers and acquisitions, the company faced rising costs with its incumbent cloud provider and needed a more elastic, cost-effective infrastructure to speed deployments and improve site performance.
iCarAsia migrated to Google Cloud Platform—using Kubernetes Engine for containerized apps, TensorFlow/Dialogflow to prototype a customer chatbot, and G Suite for productivity—and completed the move with a small in‑house team assisted by Google. As a result, deployments dropped from 30–60 minutes to as little as 30 seconds, server response times fell from roughly 300–400 ms to about 60 ms, inter‑service communication improved, features are released immediately instead of biweekly, and engineering morale and customer engagement opportunities increased.
