Veolia, a global water, waste, and energy management company operating in 52 countries, needed a better way to connect legacy systems, reduce API sprawl, and speed up digital service delivery. Using Google Cloud Platform’s Apigee API management platform, Veolia aimed to create a more centralized, secure, and reusable API foundation for both internal teams and external partners.

Google Cloud Platform helped Veolia implement an API-first approach with Apigee, enabling standardized APIs, a developer portal, and better governance and analytics. The results included development cycles shrinking from years to months, weeks, or even days, partner count doubling to more than 40 in the first half of 2021, and API traffic quadrupling in just five months, helping Veolia improve maintenance, customer services, and new revenue opportunities.
