Tieto, a leading Nordic software and services company, needed a better way to help retail banks integrate third-party services and comply with emerging open banking requirements while competing with fintech startups. To solve this, Tieto used Google Cloud Platform’s Apigee API management platform as a mid-layer for its lending and leasing platform and open banking API hub.

Google Cloud Platform’s Apigee gave Tieto a secure, flexible way to manage APIs across cloud and on-premises environments, improve developer access, and monitor traffic across customer integrations. The company now supports about 120 customers using 20 to 50 APIs each, with improved visibility into broker performance, stronger cybersecurity, and more complete monetization capabilities for banks looking to split costs and prepare for API revenue growth.
