Preview of the Hiroshima University Case Study

Hiroshima University Delivering a next-generation education environment with the latest cloud technology for 15,000+ students

Hiroshima University, a national research university in Japan, needed to modernize its long-running learning management system to support data analysis, open-source collaboration, and sudden traffic spikes during the pandemic. Using Google Cloud Platform, including Google Cloud and BigQuery, the university aimed to improve performance, scalability, and log analysis while avoiding major disruptions during migration.

Google Cloud Platform helped Hiroshima University move to Moodle on cloud infrastructure, with Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Load Balancing supporting a simpler, more manageable LMS. The new system delivered stable operation even under heavy load, served over 15,000 students and 3,650 faculty members, and enabled faster analysis of learning logs, improving reliability and user experience across the university.
