Hanes Australasia Improves product recommendations and revenue with Recommendations AI

Hanes Australasia, the Australian apparel and lifestyle retailer behind brands like Bonds, Bras N Things, and Sheridan, needed to replace a manual, spreadsheet-based process for recommending products across its websites. The company wanted a faster, more scalable way to personalize recommendations and support its growing ecommerce business. Google Cloud Platform, using Google Cloud services such as Recommendations AI, BigQuery, Firebase, Cloud Functions, and Pub/Sub, was brought in to help.

Google Cloud Platform helped Hanes Australasia build a near real-time data architecture and implement Recommendations AI across more than 10,000 products on its key brand sites. The solution delivered a double-digit uplift in revenue per session in A/B testing versus the old manual system, while also improving the customer experience and revealing new basket-building and merchandising insights.
