GT Group Building successful apps to improve customer experience with developer-friendly cloud resources

GT Group, a Hong Kong mobile innovation company behind app development consultancy GreenTomato and startup accelerator GT Studio, needed a more agile, flexible, and scalable infrastructure to build and run its in-house and client apps. The group also faced growing demand on apps like Hong Kong Movie and Talkbox, where legacy systems and on-premises hardware made it hard to handle traffic spikes, rapid development, and data growth.

Google Cloud Platform helped GT Group migrate key workloads to Google Cloud using services such as Compute Engine, App Engine, Firebase, and Google Workspace. The result was faster VM deployment, 20% lower VM costs, 30% cloud spend savings through autoscaling, and the ability to scale quickly during demand surges, including a fourfold increase in data storage during COVID-19. Google Cloud Platform also reduced data center maintenance time from 10 days a year to zero and improved app reliability for millions of users.
