Grupo Colon Gerena Cooking up better network reliability

Grupo Colón Gerena (GCG) is a Puerto Rico–based restaurant management group operating 113 locations and supporting 6,500 employees. Facing frequent severe weather and the risk of extended outages (as seen with Hurricane Maria), GCG needed a more resilient IT platform with off‑site backups, faster restores, and improved day‑to‑day performance for point‑of‑sale, HR and accounting systems.

GCG migrated to Scale Computing’s HC3 Cloud Unity built on Google Cloud Platform, creating a hybrid environment that securely replicates and archives backups off‑island and simplifies storage and server management. The move cut restore times from days to minutes, improved network performance between headquarters and restaurants, reduced infrastructure costs (about 50% in savings), and increased overall data reliability and scalability across all locations.
