Gordon Food Service, the largest family-owned foodservice distributor in North America, needed to modernize its customer ordering experience and move faster to keep up with changing expectations and rising competition. Working with Google Cloud Platform and partner Kin + Carta, the company set out to build a new ordering application, Gordon Ordering, using Google Kubernetes Engine and other Google Cloud services.

Google Cloud Platform helped Gordon Food Service deliver a more modern, scalable, and secure ordering platform with a much faster release cycle. The pilot launched in 209 days, deployments increased from 4 per year to 2,920, and the team can now push customer-requested changes into production in less than 24 hours; the company also reports zero customer-facing downtime and near-limitless scalability.
