Case Study: GoOpti achieves faster, lower-cost airport transfers with Google Cloud Platform

A Google Cloud Platform Case Study

Preview of the GoOpti Case Study

GoOpti driving people from remote, small cities to large airport hubs

GoOpti is a fast-growing Slovenian demand-responsive transportation startup that provides low-cost shared and private shuttle transfers between airports and remote towns across Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Croatia and Germany. Because many passengers live in small towns with limited public transport, GoOpti needed a mapping platform that could accurately identify pickup locations in rural areas and batch passengers into the most time-efficient routes for drivers.

GoOpti built its booking site and driver app on Google Maps Platform, using the Maps JavaScript API for the website, the Geocoding and Places autocomplete APIs to verify pickup points, and the Distance Matrix and Directions APIs to optimize pickups and calculate driving times. The result: customers save an average €80 and arrive about one hour sooner than flying from the nearest airport, GoOpti has cut CO2 emissions by 10,000 tons through pooling, maintains a high 78/100 Net Promoter Score, and operates 400 vans at peak season across 50 cities and 33 airports in seven countries.
