Google Cloud Platform brings Allthecooks to all the kitchens

Allthecooks, a social cooking and recipe app for mobile devices and Google Glass, needed a scalable, reliable way to handle rapid growth and millions of daily interactions without a dedicated system administrator. With a small team and no outside funding, the company turned to Google Cloud Platform, using services like Google App Engine and Google Cloud Datastore to support its expanding backend.

Google Cloud Platform helped Allthecooks migrate key backend processing to Google Compute Engine for better performance, lower CPU cost, and more in-memory caching, with plans to use BigQuery as well. As a result, Allthecooks grew to more than 12 million users and 1 million monthly active users, while keeping latency low enough to deliver instant recipe recommendations and a smooth user experience.
