A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
CloudLock is a startup that provides content-aware security and compliance for Google Apps (Docs, Sites, Google+). Facing rapid demand from businesses that needed visibility and control over cloud-stored data, CloudLock needed a solution that kept customer data inside Google’s infrastructure, scaled automatically for growth, and could be managed with minimal staff.
CloudLock built its service on Google App Engine, using Datastore, task queues, OpenID/SSO and the App Engine admin console to streamline development, scaling and operations. The app grew from about 10 to over 200 paying customers (managing 1M+ end users), saved roughly $200,000 a year in salary costs, and is supported by a single staff member.
