A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Glitnir Ticketing is a white‑label ticketing platform for sports and performing‑arts venues across the US, Canada and the UK, known for unified online and on‑site sales and immersive seat visualization. Facing intense competition and frequent traffic spikes that previously forced it to limit seat‑selection functionality, the company needed a faster, more mobile‑friendly checkout that reduced abandoned carts and reliably scaled for blockbuster events.
Glitnir built an integrated 360° seat viewer using Google Maps Platform and a one‑page checkout, then migrated its infrastructure to Google Cloud (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, HTTPS load balancing, Stackdriver, Firebase and Cloud DNS). The result: dynamic scaling for bursts holding more than 10,000 seats in ~4,000 simultaneous carts, faster purchases and better UX, a 20% growth in customer base, 94% retention, and customer revenue/attendance uplifts of roughly 20–50%.
