A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Geotab is a Canada-based telematics company that turns raw vehicle sensor data into fleet-management and smart-city insights. As its footprint grew to more than 1.4 million vehicles, on-premises servers became too complex to manage and aggregate, creating a need for a fast, reliable, secure, and highly scalable data platform.
Geotab migrated its infrastructure to Google Cloud (Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine) and consolidated telemetry in Google BigQuery, applying TensorFlow models with help from Google Professional Services and partner SpringML. The result: more than 3 billion records streamed daily and over 1 PB in BigQuery, 5–10 seconds from sensor to analysis, high availability and FedRAMP compliance, faster feature development, granular benchmarking for customers, and expanded smart-city offerings via data.geotab.com.
