FTD Companies, a major floral and gifting business, needed to modernize its ecommerce operations and move away from on-premises data centers to stay competitive, especially during seasonal peaks like Mother’s Day. The company turned to Google Cloud Platform and Google Cloud Professional Services to support a faster, more flexible cloud-native approach for its online services.

Google Cloud Platform helped FTD design and implement a container-based architecture on Google Kubernetes Engine, with Terraform, Stackdriver, Cloud Datastore, and Cloud SQL supporting deployment and operations. The result was 10x faster service deployment, same-day new service launches instead of 1 to 2 weeks, and improved holiday ecommerce conversion rates beyond expectations, while also enabling a shift to continuous delivery and DevOps.
