Foundation for Precision Medicine is a U.S.-based nonprofit focused on detecting Alzheimer’s disease early and changing its progression. The team was challenged by limited funding and slow, in-house data analysis tools while working to build machine learning models from large patient datasets. It used Looker Studio alongside Google Cloud tools to help visualize and share data securely in a HIPAA-compliant environment.

Looker helped Foundation for Precision Medicine speed up research by connecting visualization workflows directly to BigQuery, reducing time spent moving data between systems. With the new setup, the organization completed its proof of concept in four months instead of a year, reclaimed 70% of the data team’s time for scientific work, and moved to machine learning 25% faster. Accuracy also improved, with AUC rising from 0.7 to 0.8, while model development became 5x to 10x faster.
