Enhancing investment returns with AI-augmentation

UOB Asset Management (UOBAM) wanted to improve investment outcomes by using data, algorithms, and AI to better predict market movements and enhance hedging performance. To explore this, it worked with Google Cloud Platform and began testing generative AI use cases, including the deep learning capabilities of Vertex AI, as part of its Invest Tech proof-of-concept efforts.

Google Cloud Platform helped UOBAM validate a proprietary hedging AI model and establish a framework for how AI could be applied in its hedging process. The effort showed promising results and helped UOBAM assess whether AI techniques could reliably generate above-benchmark returns, supporting its broader goal of improving investment performance.
