Case Study: Energyworx achieves rapid scalability and lower infrastructure costs with Google Cloud Platform

A Google Cloud Platform Case Study

Preview of the Energyworx Case Study

Energyworx Building an energy data management solution using Google Cloud Platform

Energyworx is a SaaS energy data management platform that aggregates and analyzes meter, IoT, grid and facility data to help utilities and businesses reduce costs, optimize the grid and create new energy services. The company struggled with the high cost and operational complexity of running on‑premises at scale, and an earlier public cloud deployment suffered downtime and lacked the sophisticated data‑processing and querying capabilities Energyworx needed.

By moving to Google Cloud Platform and adopting a serverless architecture (App Engine, Cloud Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Bigtable and BigQuery), Energyworx gained instant scalability, reliable operations and advanced analytics and ML at lower infrastructure cost. The shift freed engineers to focus on product, enabled pay‑per‑use APIs and fast queries for customers (for example, predicting solar generation or aggregating energy across thousands of sites), and let Energyworx outpace larger competitors with faster release cycles and better value for customers.
