Emaar Improving customer engagement across industries with APIs

Emaar, the Dubai-based real-estate and lifestyle group behind Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, hotels, and entertainment businesses, needed a single way to develop, deploy, and secure APIs across its many verticals. Using Google Cloud Platform’s Apigee API management, Emaar aimed to reduce API sprawl, improve access to data and services, and speed up delivery of new customer experiences for tenants, property owners, visitors, and partners.

Google Cloud Platform implemented Apigee to create a standardized API environment with stronger governance, better visibility, and easier reuse of microservices across teams. Within months, Emaar exposed around 250 APIs, onboarded 60 mall retailers through its developer portal, and cut integration time by five to six times. The platform also enabled new self-service features in its property app and positioned Emaar to monetize APIs in the future.
